Castletown School of Motoring News EDT Lesson 11: DRIVING CALMY

When you have done lesson 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th & 8th  EDTs with an ADI
(Approved Driving Instructor) . You can do lessons 9, 10, 11, & 12  EDTs in the order to suit you.

After taking 8hrs EDT & practice, you should be able to drive in fast–moving traffic or where speeds are highly variable. For example, you should be able to drive where there are changing speed limits or variable traffic conditions & you should also be able to drive independently.

Objective of lesson 11.

For most of this lesson you should be driving independently & making your own decisions. As a result you may will be; Frustrated; Exasperated & feel threatened.  If you are not fit for this lesson, as an ADI, I will give you as much as support as needed.

Topic of lesson 11:

Joining busy main roads:

Entering junctions while driving independently;

Simulating the stalling & re-starting vehicle.

Parking on a road with significant numbers of parked car & moderate traffic volumes.

Also, planning for a journey; fitness of the passengers to travel & safe loading of vehicles.

At the end of 11th EDT lesson, your log book will be stamped & your EDT lesson will be logged in the RSA Portal. As the EDT lesson 12th can be challenging & that you are struggling with lesson it; maybe more practice with an ADI, your sponsor, or both would be advisable. (The RSA are recommending 3 hours tuition between each EDT). If you need more help on EDT you can email me for further details on

((PS): if you have no car to practice or that you cannot have another driving lesson before your next EDT, maybe you should consider having  your EDT lessons close from one to another, in order to pick up driving skills quickly. When you accomplished your 12 EDTs, make sure that they are all logged in the RSA portal. If you have some lesson which are not logged in, the RSA will not provide you with a date for your Driving Test.
