EDT Lesson 9: CHANGING DIRECTION 2 “more complex Situations”

Lesson EDT 9: (CHANGING DIRECTION 2 “more complex Situations”)

When you have completed lesson 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th & 8th  EDTs with an ADI
(Approved Driving Instructor) . You can do lessons 9, 10, 11, & 12  EDTs in the order to suit you.

After taking 8hrs EDT & practice, you should be able to use your own judgement to negotiate your junctions. With an ADI & a dual control car you should safe to do so.

Your next objective for the 9th EDT, you should drive in more complex situations to cover MSMM (Mirror, Signal, Mirror, Manoeuvre ) routine.

Objectives of the 9th EDT are:

-Carry out observation & scan when turning Right & left.

-Negotiate junctions; and

-Changing direction in more complex & challenging driving situations.

The achievement of the 9 EDT should be:

  1. Changing course safely with due regard for traffic controls;
  2. Changing course safely with due regard for other roads users;
  3. Yield to other road users & progress;
  4. Changing course safely using MSMM routine without prompting

At the end of 8th EDT lesson, log book will be stamped & your EDT lesson will be logged in the RSA Portal. As the EDT lesson 8th can be challenging & that you are struggling with lesson it; maybe more practice with an ADI, your sponsor, or both would be advisable. (The RSA are recommending 3 hours tuition between each EDT). If you need more help on EDT you can email me for further details on francis@castletownsom.com.

((PS): if you have no car to practice or that you cannot have another driving lesson before your next EDT, maybe you should consider having  your EDT lessons close from one to another, in order to pick up driving skills quickly. When you accomplished your 12 EDTs, make sure that they are all logged in the RSA portal. If you have some lesson which are not logged in, the RSA will not provide you with a date for your Driving Test.
