How should you prepare for your lesson 1 Essential Driver Training: (1st EDT)
To get the most of this lesson, you should familiarise yourself with:
– The rules of the road
– The vehicle that you will be taking the lesson in.
– The information on preparing your safety check.
As an ADI, I will introduce you to the primary vehicle controls as such as;
– Steering wheel, accelerator, brakes, clutch (where fitted); Gears & hand break.
You should also to have knowledge of the secondary controls such as:
– Indicator, windscreen wipers & washer (front & back where fitted), front & rear demister, horn, lights reflector, hazard light, parking light, deem head light, full head light & fog light.
The vehicle must be insured & roadworthy (insurance, road tax, NCT if applicable & technical part of vehicle)
The RSA would recommend to practice 3 hours driving with your sponsor or an ADI before your 1st EDT lesson.
At the end of 1st EDT lesson, log book will be stamped & your EDT lesson will be logged in the RSA Portal. As the EDT lesson 1st can be challenging & that you are struggling with lesson it; maybe more practice with an ADI, your sponsor, or both would be advisable. (The RSA are recommending 3 hours tuition between each EDT).
If you need more help on EDT you can email me for further details on francis@castletownsom.com.
((PS): if you have no car to practice or that you cannot have another driving lesson before your next EDT, maybe you should consider having your EDT lessons close from one to another, in order to pick up driving skills quickly.
